The SPIE Chapter workshop "Photonics as a key enabling technology" will be held on November 24th starting from 2.15 p.m. on Zoom.

It is our pleasure to announce the SPIE Chapter workshop "Photonics as a key enabling technology” 2020.

Photonics studies photons and their interaction with matter, both in terms of fundamental and applied research. The aim of this science is the understanding of the phenomena ruling the behaviour of photons, in order to boost the development of novel technologies and applications based on light. In this sense, photonics is a key enabling technology, with its central role in many fields of science, ranging from remote sensing to engineering, from telecommunication to biology.

In the workshop we want to discuss one of the cutting edge technologies and research topics of the moment, “Quantum computing”, and try to understand why the research community is working on it so intensively. We invited a lot of high level speakers to contribute in our workshop. These experts will lead us to our goal by presenting the topic from different points of view, including photonics platforms.

The workshop will be accessible to a broad audience.
